How to choose a luxury ski resort

By ability

Beginners and mixed groups suit resorts with plenty of blue runs and gentle nursery areas; experts look for steep terrain and guided off-piste, as in Verbier.

By altitude

Higher resorts and glacier areas (Val Thorens, Zermatt, Mont Fort) tend to hold snow better early and late in the season.

By travel time

Factor in airport transfers: Zermatt is reached by train, Aspen has its own airport, and many Alpine resorts are a road transfer from Geneva or Zurich.

Resort numbers can change by season. Confirm on the official sites before you travel. We do not invent review scores or hotel prices, and this site is independent of every resort listed.
